Crisis Prevention Training for Educators

Preparing educators with the skills and confidence to prevent, recognize, and respond to anxious or potentially disruptive behaviors with Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training is the key to a truly coordinated behavior management and crisis prevention initiative.

For a limited time, the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Response (ARP ESSER) grant, also known as ESSER III, is available to fund that essential training. ARP requires that at least 20% of these funds be used to address learning loss through evidence-based interventions that respond to students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. Utilizing your funds for CPI training meets this requirement.

A Safe, Healthy Learning Environment

For many students, a post-pandemic learning environment includes a return to a more structured schedule and re-adapting to in-person learning. Those environmental changes, coupled with unmanaged anxiety and trauma, may lead to challenging behaviors and a decline in student outcomes. Teachers are also carrying a similar weight. In a study of nearly 700 educators, only 15% of them said they felt comfortable addressing students’ emotional needs including anxiety, grief, and trauma caused by the pandemic. This is where CPI steps in.

A positive school climate starts with staff that are equipped with confidence, evidence-based training, and a coordinated approach to prevent, recognize, and respond to anxious or potentially disruptive behaviors.
